This review discusses 20th Century Boys, a manga series by Naoki Urasawa stretching across 12 volumes in the US of A. The story is about Kenji, and his friends who ttied to thwart the Friend's plan of world destruction, but were framed as the perpretrators while the Friend was seen as the hero. Years after the incident, Kanna, Kenji's niece, tries to fight back against the friends but they are a part of everything going on in the world.
The first main character is Kenji, the main hero who was told is the only person who can stop the friend and save the world. He loves to play guitar, and was framed, along with his friends, as terrorists and diappeared since Bloody New Years. The main character after Kenji's disappearance is Kanna, Kenji's niece, swears to fight back after thinking Kenji had died so many years ago, and she also possesses a strange power similar to the friend's.
A normal feeling chapter where we get more info on the Friend and their identity, until as Kanna and the
principal go to Sada's house, who is a new employ who has a similar name to Sadakiyo, someone who used
to be friends with Kenji. As they drive to Sada's house the Principal gets a call by people aligned with
the Friend. It's a confusing scene since we assume it's getting more information until a curvball is thrown.
After the Principal is done with the call, they ask Kanna to put a word for them to her father, Kanna is
taken aback by this until she's told,
Your father, my dear. I'm talking about our Friend.
There are many scenes in the story of 20th Century Boys where there are stunning reveals that are too much
for a small review as such.
